Like any writer, I have a love/hate relationship with editors. The exception to that rule is Wendy Garfinkle, who not only understands the need for a writer’s voice to stand out, but treats it with total respect. Working with her made my work stronger, better, clearer, and only added to my own voice, and those of my characters. My top choice for editor on every book I write, will always be her.

Wendy is the most amazing editor. Not only does she have great insight on polishing a piece of literature so that it can be the best it can possibly be, but as a writer herself, Wendy understands how painful the editing process can be for an artist. She is sensitive, patient, and empathetic to this process. She is an absolute joy to work with. My novel was perfect when she was done with it.

Wendy’s editing for my marketing book, The 30-Day BadRedhead Media Book Marketing Challenge, was astute and thorough. Her keen eye for grammar and punctuation created a professional and polished look to my manuscript.
While working as director for the Gravity Imprint of Booktrope Publishing, Wendy was a go-to editor and proofreader for several projects. Her ability to manage multiple projects in a timely manner is nothing short of impressive. I highly recommend her!

I was introduced to Wendy Garfinkle as a professional editor and proofreader when I was about to publish my books years ago. She’s been working with me ever since. Communicating in a clear way is key since I tend to be obtuse and literal. Wendy gets that and we’ve formed a personal connection. I will continue to call on Grammar Goddess Editing when my next book is finished. I hope more authors will hire Wendy Garfinkle and Grammar Goddess Editing. She has my highest recommendation.

I have had the good fortune of having Wendy, The Grammar Goddess, edit and proofread two of my memoirs: Tea and Madness and Black Sheep, Rising. She did an excellent job on both occasions.
As a new writer, I was incredibly apprehensive to have someone proofread Tea and Madness and didn’t know what to expect. It can be overwhelming to be published for the first time, and having someone read your manuscript with the sole purpose to find errors can make you feel extraordinarily vulnerable. My memoir had already gone through two rounds of editing and it was then sent to Wendy for proofreading. Why did it need to be proofread if it had already been edited twice? What was wrong with it? Was it really that bad? Oh no!
Wendy assured me that this was actually normal and part of the publication process. She patiently explained the difference between editing and proofreading. (I think I must have known the difference already, but was drowning in my insecurity and had forgotten.) Tea and Madness published and I will always be grateful for Wendy’s detailed proofreading along with her ability to find ways to highlight my syntax and style.
Of course, Wendy was my first choice when it came to the first rounds of editing Black Sheep, Rising and once again I was not disappointed. It can be difficult to edit poetry; finding the balance between improving the overall structure without eliminating the voice or theme can be a challenge. However, Wendy is able to find that line between editor and respecter of poem integrity.
I would strongly recommend Wendy Garfinkle with Grammar Goddess Editing, as long as my recommendation doesn’t result in too many clients who interfere when I need her for my editing or proofreading.

Wendy was outstanding to work with and I love my final product. Not only does she know the ins and outs/technical specifications for formatting and sizing, she was great at interjecting the creativity I wanted in my layout. She explained things well, brainstormed with me, allowed for iterations/edits and really helped bring my content to life. I highly recommend!

We recently commissioned Wendy Garfinkle and Grammar Goddess Editing for the proofreading and formatting of one of our company’s policy manuals. The writing is technical and the manual is heavy on commercial construction jargon, with frequent references to material testing agencies, prevailing building standards and internal paragraph references. Wendy assured us that her experience included both creative and technical writing. Her price and turnaround time were competitive and her editing was flawless. We are very satisfied with her work and hope to use her again in the future.
